Hello All! Great news. Cyd is back! Hopefully I didn't screw up too many things in her absence. It sure is nice to have the expert back though. Our Summer Reading Program is off and running with a full head of steam. Our opening program featured Markie the puppeteer. We had an unbelievable 62 kids. Our second program featured Doc Wild and we had 64 kids. I don't know how many more kids we can squeeze into our little library. I hope all is going well with everyone elses' programs!

We just had our Summer Reading Program kick-off with "The Quest for the Junk Yard Dragon". It was absolutely wonderful! We had 62 kids participate today. Markie was terrific. If any of you are in need of a puppeteer, she is the person to get! She kept the kids engaged and on the edge of their seats. It really was a treat to watch her! We have the three new laptop computers up and running. They couldn't have come at a better time; school just let out, and out community pool isn't open yet. Needless to say, we have been quite busy around here.

Even though I still feel technologically challenged, I have to say, I have learned a lot from these Web 2.0 lessons. I have tried things I never thought I would try (setting up a facebook page). Doing the GoToMeetings and twittering are probably my favorites. My pledge for this year is to attend at least 1 of the Opal Meetings a month, play with twitter at least twice a week, and to post a blog at least once a week. Thanks to all of you out there that offered advice and set up these lessons. You guys are great! Hope to continue to hear from you all. Until next week...

I have been working on the Web 2.0 tools section. I tried the google calendar app., as well as the tweetdeck app. on my twitter site. I think the calendar app. was extremely easy to use as well as being being something I will use many time over. I am not much of a calendar person, so having the calendar "ding" me and remind is a really cool bonus. Setting up the tweetdeck was not difficult, but in all honesty, I wasn't as enamored with it as I was the calendar app. There are a few other apps that I am now wanting to try out, but I thought I would get my feet wet with these two first. What's everyone else out there doing?
